Not only that, I notice a few other things:
#1. His choice of herohench and their skills. I see him flitting around with Healing Breeze on him a lot... He brings what can only be described as an entirely random assortment of herohench. At least he wasn't stupid enough to bring less than two monks.
#2. He screenshots twice in a row for the MAIN screenie on the page... giving us a lovely view of where the last screenshot was saved on his hard drive. Lawlz.
#3. He lurves being in Melee range..... with a N/E.... Waitwut?!
#4. His weapons. Slot 1 is a Cesta... on its own. Slot 2 is the same Cesta with a basic Truncheon on top. Heheh...
#5. In not one of the screenshots is he actually doing any visible damage... though plenty is being done TO him.

[ Incidentally... WHERE is the 1/4 page for the mini pet details? I can't find it. ]

maybe in my looking at at it everyday to check if the release date for PCGamer mag had changed I missed the Disclaimer on the bottom of the page. I really don't remember that being there before....

I'm surprised he even managed to cap that Elite if he was using anything like as bad a bar in Nightfall.
But then Nightfall was mostly easy enough that sans-build would work with a hench party....

Well occasionally a company will do something really really stupid and effectivly shoot themselves in the foot "arenanet are your ears burning I'm talking about you"

Give an automatic Destroyer to Americans and not to the rest of the world = bad move number 1

Magazines in some countries dont automatically get a pet at all = Bad move number 2

Not doing well so far are you ?

Some countries dont even have the chance of a pet as no magazine has the offer "Australia I believe" Batting 100 so far arn't you well minus 100 anyway.

Ignore suggestions made several times to synchronise date codes become active so all players worldwide can activate pets on the same day, another bad move.

I assume you want a ready made fan base for GW2 or am I mistaken ?

Whoever is ultimatly responsible the blame will fall mostly on arenanet and secondary flak will hit some PC magazine sales.

Suggest some form of damage limitation announcement or many will assume not only do you not think you have made the mistake but you couldn't care less if you did.

Yours angry hurt and confused

Thought so.
I just have a sad mental image of some 13year old kid pre-Disclaimer spending all their allowance on PC Gamers (as the cynical little blurb inside encourages you to do).

Ah well. Me and him bought just one copy (only one in our small village shop) and got nothing, but with the odds I'm not surprised. Just a shame the content is so shoddy- crap review over two pages... hmm.

Just been round 6 different shops and on every single copy the box had been tampered with so no chance of a mini for me

Brought two, got nothing...

luckily enough the was a review on TF2, portal and episode 2. but other then that just a 2 page review on GWEN, and a few demos. (Sam and Max ftw )

Other then that.. not really worth it in my opinion.

And it's hillarious that people see it as a problem. It's a minipet in a video game.

Well done! That's 3 out of the 1000......maybe if we keep track of how few of these minipets are actually getting to GW players, the companies will understand why we aren't happy with the way they did this?

After looking at the official page again last night, it dawned on my that there are only 1000 mini-pets in total, not 1000 per magazine.

So that is 1000 tickets distributed between 9 different gaming magazine titles in seven different countries.

My original post of the odds of getting one of these is wayyyyy off.

Assuming that each magazine has a similar circulation figures to PC Gamer, then you have approximately a 1 in 500 chance of getting a golden ticket and a 1 in 50,000 chance of that ticket being a Vizu.

Also assuming an even distribution, there might be one magazine in your country that has a Vizu code (10 codes distributed between 9 countries). That magazine might just possibly be bought by a Guild Wars player, but more likely it will be bought by someone with no interest in Guild Wars whatsoever.

The more I look at this promotion, the worse it looks.

It's a stupid promotion, It's a bad promotion, it's an awful promotion.

In fact it fails to be a promotion at all

"Promotion is one of the four aspects of marketing. The other three parts of the marketing mix are product management, pricing, and distribution. Promotion involves disseminating information about a product, product line, brand, or company. "

The above definition assumes a positive result is intended, I feel this one is very very negative.

Someone somewhere "maybe still in employment" thought it a great idea.

Spend £6 get a minipet ok
Spend £6 get a random minipet that might be really really cool better
Spend £6 for a chance "and not a good one" that you get the above is not ok, logically it will only appeal to those who already buy the magazine and play GW.
That doesn't seem likely to put up the circulation of the magazine at all so what do they get out of it.

Of course that's just my opinion

They had similar builds like this in the US PC Gamer.
Here is a Vikk build:

[skill]Fire Attunement[/skill][skill]Fire Storm[/skill][skill]Fireball[/skill][skill]Glyph of Lesser Energy[/skill][skill]Extinguish[/skill][skill]Remove Hex[/skill][skill]Heal Party[/skill][skill]Light of Deliverance[/skill]

No rez,

Back to topic,
UK PC Gamer comes to North America and I was thinking of tracking one down but if you guys in Europe are not getting the codes then the of getting one here is slim, but I will still try my luck.

I'm gonna check today since they say it would appear in the PC Gameplay magazine in the Netherlands..

Maybe i'll get lucky

edit:

So I bought the #138 of PC Gameplay and i dont see anything about that in the magazine.. but it says on the website of guildwars that the number of this magazine also is included in the promo?

I know that for the #137 there was a promo and a giveaway of 1000 minipets.. but this number?

*confused*

This sucks, really really badly sucks. Why couldnt they just had a send in and entry for a chance to win promotion. I hate these promotions, you have a minimal chance of getting anything. No matter what i have collected over the years you always seemed to get screwwed some way by the cmpany giving out special rewards. IT wasa case of Promotion not in your area, Promotion not in your country, promotion for special persons, or promotions where you get something by pure chance and meanwhile see someone with no interest in the thing getting what you want and throwing it in the bin.

I remember playign heroclix a few years back when they suddenly decided to bring out a massive Galactus figure only available in the states, at Gen Con in the US, that made me miserable as being a collector primarily i wanted the piece and ended up paying afortune to get it. Then a few months doen the line they did the same thing again with Dark Phoenix. At this point I gave up and sold my collection.

everythign i collect goes this way, you end up beign unable to get pieces simply because you dont live in a certain place, dont have the money, or the offer is simply rediculous to get the things.

To be honest i wish this offer had never been introduced at all, I'd rather not get lured into buying a magazine i dont want and wouldnt buy just to find out i waste my hard earned cash on it for nothing
